20 Weeks.

Our big boy is 20 weeks old! We thought we'd start to try to break him of sleeping wherever he dang well pleases (the couches, our futon, etc.) So we bought him a dog bed from Costco. Man, they stink! I had to Febreeze the heck out of it! Jake's not a huge fan of it yet but I caught him snoozing the other day.And then yesterday I found this. Maylyn thought he needed a stuffed animal to sleep with so she shared her polar bear. Isn't that sweet? Where's that he's sleeping? Back on the couch? Ah well, baby steps.

Pre-K May.

Today was Maylyn's unofficial first day of Pre-Kindergarten. We went, met her teacher, checked out the classroom, and filled out paperwork. Tomorrow will be her actual first day where I leave her. Yikes!
Here she is, all ready to go with her backpack that they tell us she doesn't need after we get there...fabulous. Save it for next year. Disney Princess will still be cool, right? She's at the same school with her big sister Kaeleigh.Gotta drop Kaeleigh first.Just waiting for the doors to open...She did not want to leave when it was time to go. Hopefully, that's a good sign for tomorrow. We will see...

Organized.

The other day my wonderful hubby brought home some super cute buckets from Michaels. (Gotta love that discount!) So I sat down and completely reorganized the kid's closet. It doesn't look like it would take very long, but seriously, it was hours folks! I had piles of toys surrounding me on the floor. Very happy with the end result!
In other news, I have officially changed my last name! I went to the Social Security office this morning. Minor detour through the ghetto to get there but it's all good. Man, I hate driving through downtown Phoenix! Those one way streets freak me out!
So yeah, my middle name is no longer. See ya later middle name. (sorry mom) Now I'm Karen Maiden Name Married Name. If you're reading this and know me personally then you know my name, but if you're just a frequent peeper of my blog...I guess you'll never know. :) Leave a comment, don't be a stranger peeper. Btw, I see you peepin'.

Science Fun.

Yesterday we took the kids to the Arizona Science Center. They have 4 floors of fun and learning. We started on the first floor learning about the human body. Maylyn is "touching" a splice from an actual human brain. Kaeleigh wouldn't touch it. :)Kaeleigh's going to be a Neuroscientist! Here you could throw foam balls into this giant nose and then it would sneeze. Awesome! Again, Kaeleigh wouldn't do it. LOLAnd we took turns learning about how our lungs work. Look, Kaeleigh did it!!On the second level we learned about magnetic waves, pulleys, frequencies and all kinds of cool stuff. More geared toward us bigger kids I think. :) Bill had a good time. The 3rd level had the My Digital World exhibit. We got to play around and warp our image.Checkin' ourselves out on a big screen. Can you guess which kid is which? Kaeleigh's hair pretty much gives her away. Then it was on to what they had been waiting for...the Lego Castle Adventure Exhibit!I don't even want to know how long it took to put that together!

They had a really cool set up. There was a big castle you could walk through. Plus, they had dress up clothes the kids could wear. And these fake jousting horses!Aww...look at the baby dragon. This was inside one of the little dressing rooms. Mirrors are fun. :)There were tables of legos set up so the kids could build. Maylyn was building a house. Kaeleigh, a dungeon. LOL

I think my favorite part was the Forces of Nature Immersion Theater. It was this 5 minute show that took you through what it would feel like to experience a hurricane, tornado, wildfire, earthquake, volcanic eruptions, etc. I took this pic from their website. We stood on a platform and got rained on, it shook, got really windy, they turned heat lamps on to simulate the heat of a wildfire. It was really cool! We ended up buying a membership so we can go back! The Lego exhibit is only there til Sept. 7th!

Just because.

Pretty much the best reason to receive flowers...

Strike.

Yesterday we went bowling with our friends John, Carrie, and their son John, aka Little John. This was the first time we let the kids bowl. (Usually, they sit and watch/snack/color) Oh man, they loved it! High fives all around after every turn. The kids had a helper ramp. They did so well! All three of them kicked my can. Not hard to do, I am a Terrible bowler with a capital T.Here's Maylyn's first time up...She ended up with a spare!
Here's Kaeleigh. She thought she could carry a 6lb ball with her little bird fingers. :) Final Scores!
I know someone wants to quote Bill and Ted here so I'll leave you to it. The kids thought it was pretty funny that they were winning. Especially after I used their ramp for one of my turns. :) I may not be able to bowl, but at least I'm entertaining.

Love it.

Gotta turn up the volume to hear the song but it's Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me." The girls are in love with this song and video. I pulled in up on youtube for them to see and they want to watch it all the time now! So here's Maylyn trying to sing and dance while being completely enthralled with the video.

The List.

After seeing my Busy Bee friend's list of favorite male celebrities, I was inspired to create my own. So here you go...
Ben Affleck. I have loved you since Armageddon circa 1998. Maybe even before, when I saw you on Voyage of the Mimi in elementary school. You even have the same birthday as my dad. That makes you okay in my book.
Jason Bateman. You are the man. The funny man. I watch Arrested Development just to laugh at what you say. Bradley Cooper. I think he'd be really great in a romantic movie, instead of playing jackass's that cheat on their wives. Still cute though.

Matthew McConaughey. Your muscles make up for the fact that you don't wear deodorant. And you could really teach Brad up there a thing or too about romantic comedies.

Justin Timberlake. He brought Sexy Back. What else needs to be said?

Josh Duhamel. You make Las Vegas look good. You did marry someone that peed her pants...but I won't hold it against you. You are just too good looking!

Gerard Butler. Did you see 300? No? Well you better! P.S. I Love You? Get on it! He's got the acting chops to satisfy the men and the ladies. Plus, have you seen his six pack??
Last, but certainly not least.... (heaven opens and angels sing)
Ryan Reynolds
There are no words. Just look at the picture. Wipe that drool.

She said.

Maylyn says some funny things. While accompanying me on my many doctor visits this past week, she gave me a hug. Then she leaned back really quick.
"MOM! I can hear your heart BEEPING!!"
A couple minutes later she hugs me again.
"MOM! IT'S STILL BEEPING!!"
Just let me know when it stops. :)
Yesterday I bought Pirate's Booty at Costco. I had heard it was good but had never tried it myself. When we get home I have Bill try it. He hated it! Doesn't like white cheddar apparently. Oh, the things you learn after you get married. Anyway, I said, "Oh good! This is my booty! You won't be tempted to eat any!"
Today Maylyn asked for some Pirate's my Booty.

Funky.

I haven't felt much like blogging lately. Hit a bit of a funk. I'm blaming it on my health, been kinda off lately. (No, I'm not pregnant) Our Mexican honeymoon did something to my digestive track because I have been messed up ever since! I had to go get an x-ray of my abdomen on Friday, but while I was there I saw the cutest thing ever!

This little old couple walked in, both with canes, and sat down next to me. The little lady was wearing a Gilligan style hat and took it off. The little old man pulled out a comb and fixed her hair for her! I felt like the Grinch when his heart grew 3 times it's size! I've never seen anything more precious!

Saturday was my dad's birthday and a bunch of us drove up to my grandparent's house in Payson. (You know my stomach is upset when we go into the Sugar Shack and I come out empty handed! I did manage to choke down some ice cream from Scoops (: ) We had some cousins in town from California. I barely got any pictures! Blame the funk.
(the Fam: Sandy, Dad, Rhonda, Kevin, Hannah, Pops, & Rick)

Not too much else to report. Just hoping I start to feel back to normal soon!

Zera.

Last week my little sister Sara got married!! Her main squeeze is in the Air Force so she flew to him and they eloped! How cute! I made her give me a pic so I could blog about it. :)
(You got it on the right hand!)
Love you Zera! Congratulations!!

Sing it.

While waiting for her sister to get out of school, Maylyn made up a song...

First day.

Today was Kaeleigh's first day of 1st grade! She's at a new school this year. Kaeleigh loves learning and was really excited to be going back to school. So excited in fact that she was up at 6:15! She had to wear her new skort from grandma.iCarly backpack? Check! Here she is coming out at the end of the day. (I had forgotten my camera in the car when I dropped her this morning.)Posing with her sister.Yay for 1st grade!
