100th.

Wow! It's my 100th post. I'm gonna let Jake do the "talking."

Water fun.

I'm thinking that I should have a daily post of things that my kids do/say.
Take this morning for example. And by morning I mean 3:55am.
I awoke to a frantic. "mama mama mama! There's water all over the bathroom floor!"
So I jump up, grab my glasses so I can actually see what Maylyn is talking about and run down the hall.
Oh boy....she wasn't joking. Water was covering the bathroom floor and starting to follow the grout lines out into the hallway. (Luckily it's all tile.)
I asked her, "what happened?"
"I don't know"
"Did you use too much toilet paper?"
"yes." (sad face because she knows she's in trouble)
So I hunt down the plunger and spend 15 minutes trying to get the toilet to empty. I should really consider plumbing as a back up career.
Then I spend another 10 minutes sopping up water from the floor.
Before heading back to bed I stop in to see the culprit.
I tell her, "don't do that again."
Her response, "okaaaay."
4 years old going on 14.
Someone save me.

Humor me.

Funny and not at all embarrassing things that my children have said/done this week.
  • I'm standing in a store looking at a rack. Maylyn's behind me. All of a sudden I feel a breeze. Maylyn had lifted up my dress. Luckily the store was Victoria's Secret so seeing undies is no big deal.
  • I've debated telling Kaeleigh the correct terms for her "girl parts" but the occasion arose and I had to explain. When I was done I asked her what they were called. Very seriously she replied, "Pa china."
  • From the bathroom I hear a little girl named Maylyn yell,"MOM, I MADE POOP! AND IT'S A LOT!" Oh joy, I'll be right there.

My life would be dull without children.

On my mind.

I think my upcoming nuptials have caused me to go borderline crazy.
I get married in 15 days.
That's like a fortnight.
(See what I'm saying, who says fortnight??)
I am so excited!
And completely stressed.
Things I'm currently worried about:
  • will my passport make it in time
  • will the kids be OK without me for 8 days
  • will the puppy be OK without me for 8 days
  • will I contract swine flu whilst in Mexico
  • what if I need to know Spanish?

I'm sure everything will be fine, but my day wouldn't be complete without stressing.

I decided to learn a few Spanish phrases I may need while I'm in the MEX.

  1. déme una galleta (give me a cookie)
  2. ¿dónde está el cuarto de baño? (where is the bathroom)
  3. quisiera sí un repuesio de la bebida (yes, i would like a drink refill)

Yup, I've got the basics covered.

On a side note. I saw this today and I'm not sure what to make of it...

It appears that Lady GaGa got into a fight with mutant pipe cleaner, and the pipe cleaner won. Hmmm...

Happy Father's Day.

I know two special dads that deserve a Father's Day shout out.
The first is my dad.

He's done so much for me over the years.
All those things I never showed any appreciation for...Thanks Dad.

When things went south on the east coast, you stepped in and rescued me.

You became the first real father figure for my girls.

I could never say enough for all of the things that you do.

Happy Father's Day Dad, I love you.

The second dad that deserves acknowledgement is Bill.

With two grown kids already, I wasn't sure he'd be up for raising two more...
All those fears went out the window when I saw him with my girls.

He is an amazing dad.

I'm so thankful that I have such an attentive man as a husband and father.

Happy Father's Day honey, we love you.

Here he is at 6 weeks. Less than 7 pounds.

And here he is at 9 1/2 weeks. All 12 pounds of him! He's my big boy.

Walks and Memory.

I took my camera on our regular evening walk.

Jake likes to hold his leash in his mouth and walk himself.

Isn't he cute?!

Underdog!

Kaeleigh's turn being the pack leader.

When we got home we played Memory. Maylyn won.
And they were a little silly.
Maylyn went the whole day with her VBS name tag on her back. Thanks Auntie!
Our walk really wiped Jake out!

Holy crap.

I get married in 23 days.
We finally have a destination reserved for our honeymoon.
At first I wanted to go to Hawaii.
Bill found an all-inclusive deal to go to Cancun...so Cancun it is!
Except that I don't have a passport.
I put it off because I thought we'd end up in Hawaii and I wouldn't need it.
Big mistake.
I absolutely had to get the paperwork in today or it wasn't going to make it in time.
So my day started like this:
  • Drop Kaeleigh off at school.
  • Realize I forgot the snack Maylyn need to take to vacation bible school. Drag Maylyn into Albertson's for crackers and drag back out.
  • Drop Maylyn with my mom.
  • Drive to CVS because they allegedly do passport photos.
  • Get my picture taken by some high school kid who can't figure out the machine to print them.
  • Walk around CVS for 15 minutes while he tries to figure it out. Tell him forget it, I'll go to another one.
  • Stop at my second CVS and get in done in under 10 minutes. I was helped by the sweetest girl!
  • Run home because I forgot all my passport paperwork on the counter in my kitchen.
  • Get to the courthouse and send my purse through the metal detector.
  • Metal detector lady tells me that the camera I have in my purse can't come in so I have to truck it back out to my car and leave it there.
  • Go back through the metal detector.
  • Find the passport office where I'm told that I need either a check or money order.
  • Drive all the way home to hunt down my checkbook. (who writes checks anymore??)
  • Drive all the way back to the courthouse where I go through the metal detector for the 3rd time. Metal detector lady jokes that 3rd times the charm. Ha ha metal detector lady, ha ha.
  • Pay $200.85 for waiting til the last minute to get my passport.

Moral of the story. Don't be a lazy ass Karen.

27.

Today is my 27th birthday.
I wanted to post a bunch of pictures of myself from over the years,
but my pictures are currently being held hostage.
(That is a story for another day my friends)
Anywho. I picked three from what I had at my house.

Here I am at a year old. Aww. Looks like Maylyn!

I have no idea how old I am here...judging by my brother I want to say I'm around 4?

This would be a picture of the best birthday cake ever. Holly made this for me for my 20th. It was amazing!!My birthday's coming to a close. Today was a great day. From the "wish list" I posted a few days ago...I got 6 of the 7 things on it! And a few more things I wasn't expecting. 27 is shapin' up to be a good year.

Meet "Bill"

What do you do with a blank paper sack?
You take turns drawing a face on it!
We each drew a couple of features.
And then we gave him a name and tried him on!
Kaeleigh as "Bill."
Maylyn as "Bill."
Bill as "Bill."
I added a mustache and he ended up looking like Hitler! Oops!

Sit. Good dog.

I took a handful of dry dog food and taught Jake how to sit!
He's a very fast learner.
Kaeleigh took the video below.
And here's a still shot of my good boy.

Now if I could just get him completely house broken!

This evening.

Kaeleigh's summer program had a family Art Night tonight.
Kaeleigh and Maylyn were having fun making "Bubble Pictures."

They had the kid's art work up on the walls of the cafeteria.
This is a picture that Kaeleigh painted of a tiger. She did a great job!
She came home with a Happy Gram today. Does anyone remember those from school? Apparently, they still give them out; and they look the exact same!
We came home to our very spoiled puppy.
How spoiled, you ask?
Well, Jake likes to fall asleep in my arms just like a baby.
That will definitely not be happening when he gets bigger!
And the kids got the crazies out being silly with Bill. Basically, they (all three of them) ran around the house shrieking, disturbing the puppy's sleep.

Fun evening overall!

(ps. less than 3 days til my birthday!)

Maylyn learning to be the "Pack Leader." Thanks Cesar Millan!
Isn't she cute?
How bout some ham with that cheese??Our little boy is 8 weeks old today, and feeling much better!

Ramblings.

Have you ever noticed just how slow time c r a w l s when you're looking forward to something?
This has been one LONG week. Full of pluses and minuses.
Plus. Kaeleigh started her AKAG program. My little girl just loves school. She comes home everyday just raving about what she did. And I got a phone call on Thursday from the AKAG director telling me that Kaeleigh had been chosen as Student of the Week! How cool is that?!
Minus. Maylyn is on a tear this week! I tell her to stop doing something, 5 minutes later she's doing it again. Repeat all day long. I like to blame her behavior on her father, he never listened to me either.
Minus. Our puppy Jake, that we've had less than 2 weeks, started acting strange. Didn't want to eat or drink. Threw up. Diarrhea. Just laying around all day. So I took him to the vet and it turns out he has coccidia. It only cost $187 to find out. Poor baby. The medicines seem to be helping though.
Plus. I have an amazing fiance. I seriously would have lost my sanity this week without him.
Only one more week to get through and then its my birthday!
And although birthdays kinda go downhill
as you get older, it's still nice to have a one special day.
27 is no big whoop. Woo hoo, I'm almost 30! Pfft.
I've got my baby-sitter (aka my mom) lined up for that evening.
So...what to do?
Maybe see a Dbacks game?
Go to dinner?
See a new movie?
Oh, the possibilities that open up when you're childless for an evening.
All you moms out there know what I'm talking about.
This is what I'd like to have happen on my birthday:
1. Take a shower that's longer than five minutes.
2. Take the time to shave my legs. (TMI?)
3. Actually put on make-up!
4. Mani/pedi? Perhaps.
5. Starbucks. Definitely.
6. Eat a meal I didn't have to cook. (Or clean up after!)
7. Spend quality time with my honey. ;)
We'll see what happens...
Here's something I found very cute, just to end things on a high note.

Funny girl.

This is Maylyn impersonating Alex the Lion from Madagascar 2.

Let's get cookin'!

The girls received the cutest gift from their Auntie Denise. (Bill's sister)Look at these adorable aprons!
They have frogs on them.
When they tried them on Maylyn said, "I have to cook!"
(Excuse Kaeleigh's hair. They had just gotten up and I hadn't tamed it yet.)

The Lake.

Our friends DJ and Dawn invited us to Roosevelt Lake this past weekend. The kids had never been on a boat, or to a lake.
Kaeleigh had the time of her life. She kept saying it was the best day ever! This was a bridge over part of the lake. Maylyn really liked going fast.
The kids had lots of fun taking turns being pulled on the raft. And swimming in the lake.
Proof that I was there too.
Kaeleigh letting the other boaters know we had people in the water.
Dawn and all the kids on the raft.
It was the perfect day to go. Hardly anyone was there and the weather was perfect!
