August.

August was fun; maybe slightly less fun for Maylyn because she had summer school. But she had a surprisingly good time.  The Husband was able to take some vacation time and we did some exploring.
We headed back to Lake Coeur d’Alene and let the kids put their feet in the water.  The lake was packed the day that we went.  Ryan was not a huge fan of the sand and the water and clung to Bill the entire time.

We stopped and had snow cones before leaving and the girls came across an ancient relic.  They had never seen a pay phone before!
We signed the kids up for swimming lessons.  This was Ryan’s first time in swim lessons and he did really well.  He wasn’t a huge fan of floating on his back but he really liked jumping in from the side of the pool.  His lessons were first so Kaeleigh and Maylyn sat and read until we were done and then it was their turn.  I spent the 35 minutes of the girls’ class chasing Ryan around the aquatic center.  There were just too many things for a one year old to see!

At the end of August Bill surprised us with a trip to Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg, Idaho.  It’s this beautiful resort about an hour away from us that is a ski resort during the winter time but also has an indoor water park that runs year round.

We took a 3.1 mile gondola ride to dinner the first night that we were there.  Ryan was a little nervous and held on tight to his daddy and sister.
See those buildings in the distance?  That's where we started!

We spent the next two days swimming, enjoying some treats, and having some fun family time.

We had so much fun that Maylyn passed out as soon as we got home!

Swimming.

Summer means swim lessons for Kaeleigh and Maylyn.
My parents have been taking them because Ryan usually wants to eat right at about lesson time.
(The kid wants to eat ALL the time but that's another blog post.)
Plus, it's so hot sitting outside that the couple times Ryan and I went we melted.
Thanks Mom and Dad for braving the heat!

The girls have been doing really well this summer.  They've graduated to a strokes class.
Kaeleigh does really well with her freestyle stroke and Maylyn does better with a backstroke.  She struggles a little bit trying to get all the way across the pool which is really hard for me to watch but she's getting better.

Speaking of swimming, we spent some time over at our friend's new house to enjoy their pool and Ryan joined in the fun!
The Husband found him these adorable little swim trunks.

The water was nice and warm.  Ryan loved it!  He loved it so much he started to fall asleep!

K-train and Money.

The kids started swim lessons this week.
Both are doing an awesome job.
Kaeleigh is a little cautious but that's true with everything she does.
One of their swim instructors has given them all nicknames.
He calls Kaeleigh, K-train.  You can see him in the video say, "Woo woo."
Maylyn's nickname is Money Maylyn.  Because she's "money in the water."
This guy is really funny.

Cake.

My bathing beauties are almost done with swim lessons and are both doing so awesome!
Rather than post a bunch more pictures of them swimming,
I'll tell you what else we did today...

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday so the girls and I made her a cake.
First they had to get their aprons that their Auntie Denise made them.
Maylyn was buttering the pan while Kaeleigh supervised.
Can't make a cake without licking the beaters!
The finished product!
Triple chocolate fudge...mmmm!
We celebrated with my mom tonight and it was delicious!

Lessons.

The girls started swim lessons this week.
It's the second session for Maylyn so far this summer and the first for Kaeleigh.
Here they are practicing their motor boat kicks.
She's going under!
(Hey mom, yeah we're a little busy swimming.)
Kaeleigh is doing really well at her free style swimming.
Maylyn, not so much, but she is really good at floating on her back.
They're both doing really well.  And they love it.  Kaeleigh's barely out of the pool before she's saying that she can't wait for the next class!

Swim lessons.

Maylyn had her first swim lesson of the summer today!
She's taking lessons through the City of Mesa at Rhodes Pool.
Kaeleigh couldn't be in this session because she has summer school starting next week so she sat with me while we watched her sister learn to swim.

Here's Maylyn learning about blowing bubbles.
And floating on her back.
Waiting for her turn to go in.

That's her head coming up out of the water.
She had gone down to grab a dive ring.
That little girl next to her was really annoying.  She tried to make a break for it, straight to the deep end.  Luckily, someone stopped her.
She kept waving at Kaeleigh and I.  It was really cute.
I'm so happy that she did so well on her first day.
Two years ago on her first day of lessons she screamed bloody murder for me when they put her in the deep end so I was a little apprehensive today but all went well.
I was worried for nothing.  :)
