Ryan. (Updated)

*As I read back over my blog this morning I realized that I left out some pretty important bits of info.  Here's an updated post...*

I'm not doing so well at keeping up on the blog but I figured I better post about our newest addition before he hits his first birthday!

On May 16th I went in for my 39 week visit with my OB and she says to me, "Why are we waiting until the 25th to deliver this baby?"  And I said, "Uh, because that was the plan??"
My c-section was scheduled for May 25th but I was already starting to have contractions and dilating so rather than risking me going into full on labor on my own and having to have an emergency c-section my doctor moved my due date up a week to May 18th.  I left the appointment and called The Husband and said, "Guess who's having a baby in two days??"  Ha!  So I took the kids to school that Friday morning and we headed to the hospital at 10:30am.  (Yes, I'm mean and made the girls go to school on such an exciting day.)
The c-section was scheduled for 12:30pm so The Hubs and I had two hours to wait while they prepped me for surgery.

I had a really hard time with this surgery for some reason.  I started to get really nauseous almost as soon as they started and the anesthesiologist was giving me everything he could to try to stop that but it didn't help.  I started gagging and dry heaving while they were operating.  Such a weird sensation when you can't feel anything from the chest down.

At 1:00pm on the dot Ryan William Michael was born.
(We gave him two middle names.)
He weighed 7lbs 5oz and was 21 inches long.

Maylyn doesn't look like she's too excited in the picture above but these girls LOVE their little brother.  They can't get enough of him.
Usually a person stays 3-4 days after a c-section but I got them to let me leave after 2 days because Ryan and I were both doing well and I was SO ready to get home.  Trying to sleep at the hospital is impossible.
Here we are headed home.
We're all adjusting fairly well.  I had forgotten just how hard it is to have a newborn.  He'll be 7 weeks old tomorrow and is already sleeping almost 6 hours at night before waking up to nurse which is awesome!
Prepare for future picture overloads.  We just can't get enough of our precious little boy.

  1. So happy for you! Ryan is a little cutie. And I hear you about sleeping in the hospital - impossible. Our last time I swear the nurse always came in right when I finally got Ariadne down and was ready to try to catch a few minutes of sleep myself. Grrrr. Looking forward to more pictures!
