The new house.

The story of our new house is several months in the making.  The Husband had been looking at houses online and came across a foreclosure.  It looked like it was in a nice neighborhood and had an awesome backyard.   Before we even saw the inside of the house we were sold on the backyard.  So we took several trips over to check out the neighborhood.  Our realtor was able to get us inside the house right before it went on the market and we loved it immediately!  It checked off so many of the things we had on our list.
-master bedroom and office on the main level
- 3 car garage
-fenced backyard (you’d be surprised at the amount of houses with fenceless yards.)
-enough bedrooms so every kid had their own room
The list goes on but those were the biggest things.
We were the first offer received on the house and we closed and got the keys the day after Christmas.  Our lease at the house we had been renting wasn’t up until February so we took that time to clean and paint and slowly start getting settled in.
The day we moved was ridiculous.  It started to snow when the movers we hired arrived at the house and continued to snow ALL.DAY.LONG.  It snowed so much that the moving truck couldn’t get up the end of the street we lived on so we had to wait several days for the snow to melt before we finished our move.  Luckily we had packed a lot of the everyday stuff into my van so we had clothes and kitchen items to get us through until the rest of our belongings made it.
Our first day at the new house.
The biggest project we’ve had to tackle since moving in has been the landscaping.  The previous owners of the house had planted the wrong grass and according to our neighbors had also stopped watering it. We had all of the grass and several trees removed and then had hydro seeding done.
You can see just how crappy and patchy the grass was.

We replaced the ugly white rock that was there with dark rock.

I didn’t realize what a long and expensive process it is!  Yesterday was the first day that the Husband got to mow his new lawn.  No one had been able to walk on it after they laid the seed down so after Bill mowed we let the kids run around in the sprinklers.

Next up for the yard will be new trees.  Those will be planted at the end of the month.  We can’t wait!
